Bruce Hatton Boyer
Paintings

I am a retired college professor living in Chicago.

I hold a B.A. from Amherst College and a Ph.D. from the

University of California, Los Angeles and have been involved

in the arts for sixty years as an actor, stage director,

scenic designer and filmmaker.

I have also published non-fiction books about the Art Institute

of Chicago and the Field Museum of Natural History

in addition to two novels, the most recent of which, CORN,

is currently available on Amazon.

In the past two decades, I have returned to a lifelong passion for oil painting.

My work has been featured in a number of open and juried shows,

one solo show and are held in private collections in New York,

Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit.

Artist's Statement

I am influenced in my work by many artists over the centuries -- Tintoretto,

El Greco, Goya, Courbet, Pissarro, Cezanne, Picasso, Braque, O'Keefe,

Hopper, Benton, De Kooning and Frankenthaler, to name but a few.

Above all, I paint for pleasure. I believe that if people enjoy my work,

there is no need for laborious prose filled with critical jargon to justify it.

This site features samples of my work over the years. I also have

many other paintings that I am happy to offer online. My work ranges

in size from 16x20 to 36x 48 inches and all are for sale.
